Description: Spectacular Original Salvador Dali Bas Relief Sculpture entitled "Lincoln in Dalivision" in Bronze with original wooden black velvet covered box. The actual, complete title of the piece is "Gala Looking at the Mediterranean Sea which from a Distance of 20 Meters is Transferred into a Portrait of Abraham Lincoln (Homage to Rothko) 1976" as only Dali would entitle it, giving great insight into the subject matter for interpretation of the work. Gala, Dali's wife, is depicted nude from behind looking into space, as a Christ-like figure hovers over hear head. She appears again in a smaller tiled space on the lower left. The image of Abraham Lincoln, whom Dali apparently had great respect for, is seen surrounding the nude figure and is seen again in a small tiled space on the lower left side. Together the figures create a visual illusion dubbed "Dalivision." Salvador Dali is arguable the famous and recognizable of the Surrealist art movement making this stunning work of art a treasure to any collector.

Marks/Hallmarks/Signatures: Bronze relief is numbered 168/195 of the first edition run and is inscribed in the bottom left corner. It comes complete with Certification of Authenticity and Appraisal dated June 24, 1982 by Gallery Hawaii Inc. Each page is pictured below.The front of the velvet box reads "Lincoln Dali" and
opens up like a book to reveal the bronze relief. The inside flap has information about
the limited edition runs per Martin Lawrence Ltd. Editions of Van Nuys,
California.

Size: Bronze Relief measures 28" high x 20" wide x 3/4" deep. Box measures 29 1/2" high 21" wide x 2" deep.

Date: 1979

Condition: Condition of the relief sculpture is very good to excellent. There are only a few minor scuffs to the black overlay on the bronze found on Lincoln's head and on the nude figures leg. There are no dents, cracks, or repairs. The velvet box has some condition issues including some water damage to the front flap which is most noticeable on the inside flap. There are also some scuffs to the velvet on the front cover as seen in the photographs.
